It was a shocking win for the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 9 of their season, but it wasn't pretty for everyone. Their defense emerged from the grip of death and found ways to create six turnovers against a red-hot Indianapolis Colts offense. Their rebound was fantastic, but the Steelers' offense showed massive signs of regression, which could trigger some trade conversations.
With the NFL's trade deadline set to pass on November 4, Pittsburgh could use some help at several key positions.
The wide receiver spot has been highlighted as a need since they traded George Pickens in the offseason. The hope was that Roman Wilson or Calvin Austin III would emerge as consistent threats opposite of DK Metcalf, but that hasn't happened at a level you'd prefer.
Wilson seemed to be a potential favorite to grow into a significant role in his second year with the Steelers. Sadly, the former third-round pick hasn't been consistent enough. He has shown some plays that excite you about his future, but he has also made some poor decisions. Wilson's fumble against the Colts turned out to be nothing significant, but it could've altered the entire outcome.
The Pittsburgh Steelers need a wide receiver before the trade deadline after Roman Wilson's mistakes
Wilson got starting snaps since Austin suffered some injury setbacks. The second-year receiver showed he was able to handle the role last week against the Packers and produced a strong showing. It's frustrating to see him turn that outing into a flub against the Colts. The offense was struggling to produce anything, and Wilson and the group of receivers didn't help the cause.

It's not all on Wilson, but this lack of production on offense only reinforces the need for another top-tier receiver. Aaron Rodgers cannot be the only guy trying to take an inept group down the field on his own. He needs help, and the game against Indianapolis was terrible. They couldn't generate much offense, and they relied on six turnovers to bail them out of their faults.
Several receivers could make sense for general manager Omar Khan to target. They remain in negotiations leading up to the trade deadline, and it appears they should get something done before hand. After a solid win against the top team in the AFC standings in Week 9 of the season, Pittsburgh showed it deserved some investment.
Khan cannot sit on his hands as the offense needs more weapons for Rodgers to operate with. Wilson and Austin appear destined to be complementary pieces for the Steelers this year. They need a reliable threat who can take some pressure off Metcalf. Acquiring a veteran presence would open plenty of opportunities for their offense to take things to another level.
