With the 2025 NFL Draft getting set to dictate a massive part of the Pittsburgh Steelers' immediate future, there is one overarching question at hand: will they draft a quarterback?
So much has been made about the likes of Shedeur Sanders or Jaxson Dart being top targets for the Steelers on either Day 1 or Day 2, depending on how things shake out. And, while one of those might end up being strong options, there are still other candidates out there.
Some Steelers fans might be desperately clinging to one Aaron Rodgers decision yet to be made, but there is another veteran still out there who could be a possibility.
Over the past few months, the Kirk Cousins saga has been a very peculiar one to follow. While everybody on the outside feels it's only a matter of time before Cousins is traded, the Atlanta Falcons have publicly stated they are not looking to deal him.
Yet, one inside source disagrees. And on Tuesday, in a roundabout way, there was even more fuel added to the fire.
Kirk Cousins is doing all the right things ahead of a potential trade to the Steelers
Cousins did, indeed, report to the Falcons' voluntary portion of team workouts. Apparently, this surprised some folks around the league as the situation between he and the Falcons isn't exactly smooth at the moment.
Also in this same report of Cousins showing up is a bit of insight from insider Peter Schrager, who shut down the Falcons' notion that
"Publicly, the Falcons have said they're not interested in trading quarterback Kirk Cousins but that they'd entertain offers if the right deal was on the table," Schrager said. "Privately, they have had discussions with teams—and have asked for a lot in return, per sources."
So, while Cousins is doing the admirable thing by showing up to voluntary workouts, he is also doing himself a favor by not making a large ordeal about this entire situation (publicly, at least, that we know of).

If the Steelers ultimately strike out on Rodgers and don't want to try and possibly reach for a quarterback in a fairly weak class, then a trade for Cousins still makes sense. And, even though Atlanta is telling everyone they aren't looking to trade him, we now officially know otherwise thanks to Schrager.
There is also knowledge from a source that says there is feeling around the league that a team like the Steelers would be willing to pay down some money in order to get a deal done with Cousins.
What we saw last year, from Cousins, wasn't exactly screaming to be the answer in Pittsburgh. But, if he's got something left in the tank, Cousins might be worth taking the gamble on over rolling with Mason Rudolph or a rookie.
