With Day 2 of the NFL draft in the books, the Pittsburgh Steelers are doing the right things. They have stuck to taking the best players at positions of need, nabbing Oregon's Derrick Harmon in the first round and Iowa's Kaleb Johnson in the third.
Harmon has everything you could ask for in a defensive lineman, and Johnson is a perfect fit for Arthur Smith's wide-zone rushing attack. Both players should be immediate contributors in 2025, but how can the Steelers add even more potential starters with so few picks?
Well, this Day 3 mock draft aims to try and answer that question. With so many surprise picks so far, several good prospects could still be up for grabs when the Steelers pick in each of the next four rounds.

Steelers mock draft round 4: Jalen Royals, WR, Utah State
The Steelers didn't show interest in Utah State receiver Jalen Royals during the pre-draft process, but the value at this point in the draft would be hard to pass up.
Royals is a compact and explosive receiver with great run-after-catch skills who would be a welcome addition to Pittsburgh's receiving room. George Pickens may not be on the roster for much longer, so grabbing a prospect that most had as a Day-2 talent would be a great way to prepare for his eventual departure.
Steelers mock draft round 5: Kyle McCord, QB, Syracuse
All of the media attention in regards to this quarterback class is firmly on Shedeur Sanders, thanks to his stunning fall down the draft board. He isn't the only QB that seems to have fallen, however.
Several quarterbacks who were labeled potential Day 2 picks are still waiting to hear their names called. One of them is Syracuse's Kyle McCord. The former Ohio State passer found new life after joining the Orange as a transfer in 2024, leading all of FBS in passing yards.
The Steelers brought him in for a pre-draft visit, so there is potential interest. If he were to keep falling all the way to the Steelers' pick in the fifth round, he could be a potential long-term backup or even low-end starter.
Steelers mock draft round 6: Ty Robinson, DT, Nebraska
Even with the first-round selection of Derrick Harmon, Pittsburgh still needs an infusion of talent along the defensive line. Dean Lowry, Montravius Adams, and Isaiahh Loudermilk don't exactly strike fear into the hearts of opponents.
Ty Robinson out of Nebraska fits the Steelers type as a long and athletic interior defender with versatility to play multiple spots. He is one of the best athletes in the class, and he would give the back end of the roster much more upside going into 2025.
Steelers mock draft round 7: Hunter Wohler, S, Wisconsin
Once you get this late in the draft, teams will often prioritize players with as much upside as possible or can be potential special-teams aces. Wisconsin safety Hunter Wohler falls somewhere in the middle.
He is a good athlete for his size (6-2, 213) and is a phenomonal tackler in open space. His coverage may never develop enough to be a real contributor on defense, but his size and range would make him an ideal special teamer.
The Steelers special teams captain Miles Killebrew is 31 now, so finding a replacement for what he brings would be worth a seventh-round pick.
