The Pittsburgh Steelers head into the final day of the NFL Draft with some lingering problems. They have already selected Derrick Harmon and Kaleb Johnson. Those were solid selections, but they can't afford to take their foot off the gas pedal. The Steelers must keep attacking their needs if they want a competitive roster.
Steelers general manager Omar Khan would love to solve his lingering concerns. They should add a quarterback and some help in the secondary. Without those problems solved, Pittsburgh could struggle in vital parts of the game.
No one expects them to push for a Super Bowl, but if they want another non-losing season, they better add some quality players on Day 3 of the draft.
Steelers top targets going into Day 3 of the NFL Draft are easy to spot
Malachi Moore, S, Alabama
Pittsburgh must consider adding to its riddled secondary in this draft. Malachi Moore could add to a solid draft that includes a top running back, Kaleb Johnson. Now that they have added to pressing areas of need, Khan could attack the safety position. It might not be as problematic as running back or the defensive line, but it could help.
Minkah Fitzpatrick and DeShon Elliott have shown signs of struggle at varying points. The Steelers have a strong starting duo, but Moore is a versatile prospect. Players fall, but this Alabama product could be a terrific addition. Adding him at any point would be a steal for Khan and Tomlin.
Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado
The Steelers need another arm for training camp. They expressed plenty of interest in different prospects at the position in this draft cycle. It would be silly to believe Pittsburgh won't add to the position on the final day of the NFL Draft. Shedeur Sanders is a fantastic prospect who could go at some point on the final day.
Sanders' collapse from a top prospect to the final day of the NFL Draft is baffling. He has plenty of starting experience at different levels of football. He would be a solid fit in Arthur Smith's offense. They need a quarterback who can develop behind a starter to either become their future at the position or become a reliable backup. Sanders could be their pick to start Day 3.

Dont'e Thornton, WR, Tennessee
Having the luxury of DK Metcalf and George Pickens shoves the need for a wide receiver down the to-do list. The Steelers should still consider adding a receiver before the NFL Draft concludes. Dont'e Thornton is a prospect they expressed plenty of pre-draft interest in. The raw athlete has a long way to develop, but he has all the tools necessary to take the next step in the NFL.
Thorton worked out with Steelers receivers coach Zach Azzanni and attended his Tennessee pro day. That is a big step regarding the possibility of a Day 3 prospect landing with Pittsburgh. They must see some incredible potential in this playmaker. Thornton could go at any point on this final day, so keep your eye on him.
He could become a steal if he reaches his ceiling in the NFL.
JJ Pegues, DT, Ole Miss
It's crazy that the Steelers could still add a defensive lineman after Derrick Harmon. You can never have enough players in the trenches. Pittsburgh wants to produce a similar team to the Philadelphia Eagles, so they must improve up front. Don't be shocked if they add a player early in the final day of the NFL Draft to secure that group.
JJ Pegues is still available heading into the final day of the event. He is viewed as a versatile player, which Tomlin will love to deploy on the field. Pegues is a solid run-stuffer who could help Pittsburgh's defense slow down the opposition's rushing attack. Most draft evaluators believe he should get selected early on Day 3, and Pittsburgh could be a perfect landing spot.
