No matter if you agree or not, the Pittsburgh Steelers believe Aaron Rodgers can give them a shot at competing for a championship this season. Head coach Mike Tomlin thinks he is in better shape with Rodgers as his quarterback rather than last season with Justin Fields and Russell Wilson. Rodgers and the Steelers are "all in," which means they need the best roster possible behind the gunslinger.

Steelers General Manager Omar Khan has been constantly on the phone trying to gauge the trade market for different offensive weapons. He would love to land an upgrade to the receiver position. They need someone who can jump onto the field and become a reliable option for Rodgers and the offense.

A new article by Bleacher Report believes Rodgers's former teammate, Romeo Doubs, has hit the trade block, and it might be time for a reunion in Pittsburgh.

Doubs played with Rodgers during the quarterback's last hurrah with the Green Bay Packers. He was a rookie receiver during that season, but the tutelage of the future Hall of Fame passer paid off for Doubs. He grew his game exponentially, and the connection he had with Rodgers was undeniable. It could lead to a future trade between the Packers and Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh Steelers remain a logical spot for Romeo Doubs as their top trade target

Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report isn't the first one to make the obvious conclusion that connects Doubs to the Steelers. It's not hard to see why the 25-year-old receiver could be on the trade block. The connection Rodgers and the young playmaker developed during the 2022 campaign was promising. Factor in a crowded receiving corps in Green Bay, and Doubs could be out of time.

"Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks are back, and the Packers used first- and third-round picks on Matthew Golden and Savion Williams, respectively, in April. If Green Bay decides to move one of its young pass-catchers, Doubs would be a logical candidate."

Green Bay has refused to give Doubs a massive opportunity on their offense. They have found different receivers to shove in front of him throughout his career as a Packer. With two new additions in the NFL Draft, there is an obvious out for the organization and the player. If the Packers are willing to move the veteran receiver, the Steelers are the favorites to land him.

"The Steelers would be an obvious landing spot for the Nevada product if he is on the move. They need receiver depth, and Rodgers has experience playing with him. Doubs' rookie season coincided with the veteran's last campaign as a Packer," Knox wrote.

During their only season together, Doubs and Rodgers combined for 425 yards, 42 receptions, and three touchdowns through seven starts.

Assessing the talent of the receiver during his rookie campaign with Rodgers is difficult. The Packers had a troublesome group of receivers at the time, but you could tell Doubs was quickly becoming a favorite of the grizzled gunslinger. Doubs is someone who has continued to expand his stats each season, which should expand his motivation going into a contract year.

It would make sense for the Packers to listen to trade inquiries surrounding Doubs. He is a young receiver who has shown glimpses of talent in the past. His connection to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the rumor mill makes sense. Acquiring the former favorite of Rodgers might not solve all their issues on offense, but it would take the pressure off the young, unproven guys on the roster.
