Steelers trade targets that would make Omar Khan look like a genius

Making another blockbuster trade like the Pittsburgh Steelers just pulled off with the Miami Dolphins would be difficult, but not impossible. General Manager Omar Khan has been hard at work, and he wants to go "all in" this season with Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback. The addition of Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith from the Dolphins might be the tip of the iceberg for Khan.

According to Over The Cap's website, Pittsburgh has $18.62 million in cap space to work with.

That might not be a ton of money to maneuver in a trade like the one just pulled off, but it's not impossible. Khan was known as a cap wizard before he took over for Kevin Colbert. It would be unwise to put anything past the Steelers' aggressive GM. Expect Khan to remain focused on adding a top receiver to upgrade his offense, surrounding Rodgers with as much talent as possible this year.

If the Steelers can swing another blockbuster to upgrade their receiving corps, Khan might be legendary.

Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins

Pittsburgh just held trade negotiations with Miami to swing the Ramsey and Smith blockbuster deal. Khan might be willing to pick up the phone and see if the Dolphins would move Tyreek Hill. There have been rumors that the speedster is available this offseason, but trade talks haven't intensified. If Khan truly believes the Steelers are close to postseason success, he would love to add Hill.

The veteran receiver is aging, but his speed hasn't diminished much. Acquiring Hill would excite Steelers Nation, though the cost to obtain him remains uncertain. While the fan base disliked parting ways with Minkah Fitzpatrick, sometimes you have to give up something valuable to gain something in return.

Hill would be a fantastic addition to the receiving corps, providing another weapon to an increasingly dangerous Pittsburgh offense.

Brandon Aiyuk, San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers have been retooling on the fly this offseason after moving on from some key pieces. Pittsburgh held trade discussions with the 49ers around Brandon Aiyuk last year before he re-signed with the team. The Steelers had a deal ready to roll before the rug got pulled out from under them last minute. After a season-ending injury, Aiyuk could be on the way out of town.

There is no urgency for the 49ers to trade the star receiver, but Khan's prior interest would repopulate if Aiyuk were to hit the trade block.

The Steelers liked Aiyuk, or they wouldn't have offered a trade and contract extension for the player. The return from his injury last year would be paramount in any trade negotiations. Pittsburgh would need him to help them out for most of this upcoming season for a deal to work.

Terry McLaurin, Washington Commanders

Khan would have to get creative, as the Washington Commanders are struggling in contract negotiations with Terry McLaurin. Adam Schefter mentioned that the Steelers could entertain trade offers for T.J. Watt, and some have linked him to the Commanders in exchange for McLaurin. However, those rumors may not be realistic, as all signs continue to point toward Watt re-signing.

If McLaurin cannot find a new contract with Washington before Week 1 of the regular season, he could demand a trade. Unless the price is astronomical, Khan should be willing to negotiate a sign-and-trade. It would be costly to pay both McLaurin and DK Metcalf, but if they stick to their plan of drafting a quarterback next year, they should have plenty of cap space to work with.
