Nothing can describe the feeling the NFL kick-off brings to Yinz nation. On Sept 10, the Pittsburgh Steelers will play their first game of the 2023 season campaign. Their hard work during the off-season resulted in an undefeated pre-season. Mike Tomlin's squad has high expectations and must perform to keep their reputation alive.

Consistency in recent seasons comforts fans who read the predictions for their favorite team. They find comfort in Kenny Pickett's development and have hopes for the 2023 campaign. I believe the sky is the limit for the Steelers, but only time will tell.

Here are a few missions the Steelers should set for success in this campaign.

10. Najee Harris Rushes for 1,250 Yards

A dependable rushing scheme is an excellent way to groom a young quarterback. Kenny Pickett performed well under difficult circumstances. Matt Canada's offense looked one-dimensional. It hindered progression. Hopefully, Najee Harris will find his groove in 2023. He rushed for 1,200 yards in his rookie year and should set his goal higher with an improved offense.

9. Steelers defense records 60+ sacks

T.J. Watt is one of the best edge rushers in the NFL. In 2021, he ranked in sacks (22) and tied for third in forced fumbles. A pectoral injury sidelined him for a lengthy part of the 2022 campaign. Alex Highsmith did his best to fill his role. He ranked 15th in sacks (15) and second in forced fumbles (5). Teryl Austin's defense earned 40 sacks in 2022, but I expect Teryl Austin's unit's total to increase. The Philadelphia Eagles set the NFL record (70), so the Steelers should come close to that result.

8. Joey Porter Jr. earns 4 Interceptions

Protecting the endzone was a priority for the Steelers in the off-season. They used a second-round pick to add depth to a questionable secondary. Joey Porter Jr. has impressed analysts since joining the team. He plays physically at the line of scrimmage, and his size makes it hard for quarterbacks to place passes.

Opposing quarterbacks will test him this season, but I believe Porter Jr. can overcome the stage lights. He'll earn four interceptions by the end of the season and shock doubters throughout the league.
