4 most important scouting notes from Steelers pre-draft visits

With NFL pro days now concluded, we can really do a deep dive into our notes from the Pittsburgh Steelers scouting trail. Between pro-day meetings and pre-draft visits, Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan have been extremely busy this past month.

Through it all, we've been keeping track of every stop this team has made along the way as we attempt to track their interests. Our findings were certainly intriguing. Here are the four biggest notes from the Steelers pre-draft visits and scouting trail that fans need to be aware of prior to the 2023 NFL Draft.

4. Steelers almost certain to take a CB by pick 32

Pre-draft visits are incredibly telling. Though we never know for sure which direction the team will head early in the NFL Draft, it's a very safe bet to assume they will have a cornerback locked up by the 32nd overall pick to open the second round.

Recently, the Steelers met with top CB prospect, Christian Gonzalez. This meeting is in addition to a pre-draft visit with Joey Porter Jr. and Deonte Banks. If Pittsburgh misses out on early-round talent or elects to go with a cornerback with their second selection in the NFL Draft, there won't be slim pickings.

In addition to the names already mentioned, the Steelers have had pre-draft visits with early day-two prospects like Emmanuel Forbes, Kelee Ringo, and Julius Brents. Additionally, they could potentially consider some names just outside of this that they have also met with like Tyrique Stevenson or Darius Rush.

Taking a cornerback with one of their second round picks seems like a lock, but I would go as far as to say that their future CB will be locked up after their first pick in the second round, based on the interests they have shown during the pre-draft process.
