A small receiver could be a significant piece on offense after missing his rookie year

Most that cheer on the black and gold are excited to see what the receivers on this club can do this season. They added a quality veteran to their group and basically added another rookie with a player coming off a season-ending injury. It is a group that has some quality starters and unproven depth that could blossom into something great.

Diontae Johnson and George Pickens are the top two guys for this offense. Pickens should be able to grow in year two and Johnson should be able to improve off a lackluster year in 2022. Allen Robinson was the big name trade this past offseason by Pittsburgh and it looks like he should have a significant role this season too.

One name that has not gotten spoken much about regarding receiver is Calvin Austin III. He is coming off a season-ending injury during his rookie campaign. That was a tough pill to swallow for this club as they lost his speed element on offense. After missing his first year, you are basically gaining an extra rookie into the fold.

Austin should be able to bring a level of explosiveness that no one else on the roster possesses. He was quoted recently saying he should be 100% by the time training camp rolls around. That could be seen as somewhat concerning, but he should be all gas no breaks from there. Expect him to make some plays on offense and special teams this year.
