A starting tackle for the Steelers could finally get out of the doghouse of fans

There might not have been a player more in the doghouse for fans other than Dan Moore Jr. in recent years. He has been the starting left tackle for the Steelers ever since they took him in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL draft. He was seen as someone that could develop into a promising young tackle, but things have not gone to plan for him to date.

Things on the left side have not been in his favor with taking on some tough tasks each week. Moore did seem to have a good minicamp by multiple reports and could make some waves come training camp if a couple things happen. Broderick Jones is the top rookie for the Steelers and could take the starting spot at left tackle from Moore.

Normally that would be a terrible situation for a player like Moore, but it seems like he has seen the writing on the wall. This offseason saw the tackle train on his left side, but he has also branched out to try his luck on the right side too. If Jones settles into the starting spot on the left side early this pre-season, then Moore can challenge for the right side.

That situation would be terrible news for Chuks Okorafor, who has held the starting spot on the right side for a while. Moore is a player entering a make-or-break season when it comes to his future career with the Steelers. Showing some position flexibility is nice to keep you around, but he could also become more stable at right tackle.
