4 reasons Steelers QB Kenny Pickett could take the next step in 2023

2. He has Plenty of Firepower on the Offense
While there are quarterbacks with better weapons at their disposal, Pickett's offensive arsenal is very underrated. The team possesses numerous options to catch the ball, and they can attack you in many different ways.
Obviously, at wide receiver, the team boasts a nice tandem in Diontae Johnson and George Pickens. Johnson has handled a massive target share each of the last three seasons, and although he had a down year last year, he should bounce back and have a strong year in his second season with Pickett. As for Pickens, he showed unbelievable raw talent last season but didn't run a complete route tree. Pickens could become a star this season, after spending the offseason improving his route running and refining himself as a receiver.
However, that's not all the wide receiver room has to offer. Allen Robinson was acquired in the offseason and provides the team with a stable veteran presence with reliable hands out of the slot. Combine that with the leadership he could provide, by helping mentor the young receivers, and it's easy to see why the team took a flier on him. To top it off the team adds in second-year wide receiver Calvin Austin III, who possesses elite speed and agility and gives Pickett a weapon that can wreak havoc in the screen game, and on end around while serving as a threat to score any time he touches the ball.
Add to that the talented tight end room that the team has, and the running backs who are also capable in the receiving game, and it's easy to see that Pickett will have plenty of weapons he can look to in the passing game. At tight end, Pat Freiermuth served as a security blanket for Pickett last season and figures to be the same this season. The team also drafted freak athlete Darnell Washington out of Georgia to give the team a potential dynamic duo at the tight end position. These two tight ends are big, strong, and fast, and can be matchup nightmares, particularly in the red zone.
