Armon Watts has too many quality players in front of him on the roster

Sometimes it is not the inability that you have shown, but the circumstance that you are in that dictates your future. That could be said for Armon Watts when it comes to the situation across the defensive line with the Steelers. He has been solid and someone that should make this team without much issue on a normal roster.

It is going to take a lot of things to work in his favor to end up with the black and gold once final cuts come around. He will find a job elsewhere if Pittsburgh decides that they no longer need his services with the team. The defensive line is full of talented players from the starters to depth roles. Watts has been battling the like of Montravius Adams, Breiden Fehoko, and Isaiahh Loudermilk for the last couple spots.

It seems like those three might have the edge over Watts right now, but the silver lining here is that Loudermlik has not had a great preseason either. Watts seemed to flash more in this game and Adams has made some remarks that might bring his job security into question. No matter which defensive lineman the Steelers keep, they will have some quality depth options.

Watts did not have the worst game; in fact he might have played his best of the preseason. He showed some pressure and explosiveness. The issue here is that he did not do a ton in the other two games before that and has been behind the others on the depth chart for all of training camp. Watts could sneak onto the final roster, but it is not likely.
