Tre Norwood has been missing this entire preseason and won't make it

One of the biggest disappointments this year has been Tre Norwood. He is entering his third season in the NFL, and this is the time where he needed to show that he is progressing and building his role with the team. He has missed a lot of time during the preseason due to injury and that has plummeted his chance of making the roster.

It will be interesting to see if he returns on the practice squad or if he is picked up on another team. He is still a solid depth option at safety, but the way this roster seems to be constructed does not work in his favor. Missing time and being a ghost when you are on the field is not the best thing to have this time of year.

Mike Tomlin loves the quote of, "someone's availability is their best ability". That is true, especially this time of the football calendar as you cannot evaluate someone if they're off the field. That set Norwood behind the eight ball, and he has not been able to show much position flexibility since his rookie campaign.

Pittsburgh was searching for depth at slot cornerback and some though Norwood could slide into that spot. He never did and did not get many opportunities there. The Steelers might need to move on from this player unless he can return on their practice unit. The final roster seemed evident for him before training camp, but he is on the outside looking in right now.
