2. WR Diontae Johnson

Now we are getting to the names that are going to cause some offense to the Steelers fanbase. When it comes to Diontae Johnson, fans either seem to hate him or think he's still underrated. The latter isn't the case.

I'll be the first to admit that Johnson's innate ability to create separation at the top of his routes is impressive and that he's the only player on the team that we can consistently trust to get open. The sad thing is that -- even though he's getting open as well as anyone in the league -- the results have been abysmal.

In 2022, Johnson earned just 882 yards on a whopping 147 targets. When Steelers quarterbacks threw to Diontae, he managed a dismal 6.0 yards per target while Kenny Pickett and Mitch Trubisky combined for just a 58.8 passer rating when looking in his direction.

Johnson's ability to run routes and get open at a high level is obviously impressive. However, box score checkers overrate him for averaging close to 1,000 yards per season over the past three years. In terms of efficiency, he was horrendous last season. He should have been able to do much more with 552 targets over his first four seasons. Just because quarterbacks look his way often doesn't make him a great receiver.
