5 significant questions for Steelers on the offensive line

The Pittsburgh Steelers made it a point to address the offensive line during the offseason, but here are five significant questions that remain entering 2023.

1. Could Dan Moore unseat Chukwuma Okorafor at RT?

We know that Broderick Jones is going to be starting at left tackle at some point, so what does this mean for Dan Moore Jr. Moore and Chukwuma Okorafor were comparable players in 2022, by my assessment. Both starting tackles were below average when compared to starters around the league.

Okoroafor is entering year six and we know who he is at this point. On the other hand, Dan Moore Jr. is getting set to enter his third NFL season. Moore tested as a significantly better athlete at the NFL Combine prior to entering the league, and he was impressive at OTAs and mandatory minicamp.

It's also worth considering that Moore is over a year younger than Okorafor and actually graded out as the better offensive tackle in 2022, per Pro Football Focus, despite this being just his second NFL season.

If the Steelers make this a true competition at right tackle once Broderick Jones takes over at left tackle full-time, I would be interested to see if Dan Moore could win the job from Okorafor. Moore -- a left tackle by trade -- would have an uphill battle retraining his mind and body with his kick slide on the opposite side, but Okorafor made the transition in the past. Perhaps Moore can too.
