6 wide receiver mock trades to bolster the Steelers' weakest position

It's no secret that the Steelers need to acquire a wide receiver before the trade deadline.

Before any trades get completed, it is likely the Steelers will sit still for a while longer and evaluate the players on their roster. They could have injuries that occur which results in new trade interest between now and the trade deadline. This year is different as the deadline is now a week later than it normally is. That could play a big factor in whether teams sell or buy before the deadline hits.

November 5 at 4 P.M. EST is when all trades need to be made official and called into the league office. If nothing gets done at that time, then teams will have to roll with the current roster they have compiled unless they want to add someone in free agency.

The Steelers could be very active based on how their season is going at that time. Right now, they have a winning record, and many assume they will remain in the playoff hunt.

Steelers WR mock trades:

Adam Thielen

Hard not to mention any member of the Carolina Panthers organization right now, especially after they benched Bryce Young this past week. Both Diontae Johnson and Adam Thielen could make sense for the Steelers as an upgrade at receiver. Thielen could be the better choice as the veteran has a ton of starting experience and would be beneficial as a second option on offense.

Courtland Sutton

His name has been connected to Pittsburgh since this past offseason, but Courtland Sutton would be a terrific addition. His trade value would likely remain high since he has some future contract control past this season. Denver looks to be in store for another terrible year. It might not be cheap, but Sutton would be much better than what the Steelers have on the roster at the receiver position.

Keenan Allen

It hasn't been the start most Bear's fans thought it would, but that could always change course. If Chicago is struggling by the deadline, then they could move some pieces. Keenan Allen would be an interesting choice, especially after he was traded to the Bears this past offseason. When Allen is healthy, he is one of the best receivers in football. He is a pending free agent after the season ends.

Darius Slayton

He was someone mentioned this past offseason as a potential target for the Steelers via trade before he had his contract situation resolved. Darius Slayton is a well-experienced veteran receiver who is a free agent after this season. He has lost his starting spot for the most part with the Giants, so it would make a ton of sense to move him. New York is a hot mess and should be sellers before the deadline.

Amari Cooper

Throwing a potential splash move here, but it does seem highly unlikely as the Browns should still be in the thick of things. They reportedly had a trade offer to send Amari Cooper out of town in trade talks with the 49ers before the season started. The Steelers and Browns completing a trade is unlikely, but not impossible. Cooper would be a dream addition for Pittsburgh if they could pull it off.

Christian Watson

Pittsburgh makes a big swing here by trading for a receiver with potential in Christian Watson. It seems unlikely that Green Bay would be willing to deal with a receiver right now, but that could always change before the deadline. Watson has lost a lot of targets going his way in Green Bay and could get more opportunities with the Steelers. Not a bad trade for either side, but it could pay off big time if Watson explodes on the scene in Pittsburgh.
