AFC North Rankings: Where does Najee Harris fall among top running backs?
By Zach Hiney
1. Nick Chubb, Cleveland Browns
The number one spot in the list is an easy one to pick: Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb.
To say that Chubb has been a dominant rusher throughout his career would be an understatement. Over his first five seasons, Chubb has never averaged less than 5 yards a carry in a season. He's coming off his best pro season yet when he had 302 carries for 1,525 yards and 12 touchdowns while averaging 5 yards per carry. On an offense with rotating quarterback play, Chubb was a consistent bell cow that performed week in and week out.
He also caught 27 passes in the receiving game, showing that he can be a multi-faceted back. Chubb flies under the radar when it comes to best NFL running backs because of his old-school style of running. Chubb isn't flashy, but consistently gets the job done and provides a challenge to every defensive coordinator in the league that has to game plan for him.
I see no scenario where Chubb isn't still number one on this list at the end of the season. He's been consistent over his first five seasons and I expect more of the same this season. He'll need to be exceptional in order for the Browns to compete for a playoff spot this season.
That completes the running back portion of the AFC North rankings. In the next article, we'll take a look at the wide receivers in the division.
