Cornerbacks (6):

Steelers roster prediction: Patrick Peterson, Joey Porter Jr., Levi Wallace, Ahkello Witherspoon, Chandon Sullivan, Cory Trice Jr.

Of all the positions on the Steelers roster in 2023, cornerback is where I would argue that the Pittsburgh Steelers should keep an extra player... and they may very well end up doing so. In one offseason, the team added some big, long talent in veteran Patrick Peterson and rookies Joey Porter Jr. and Cory Trice Jr.

Peterson and Porter Jr. are projected to be the starting boundary cornerbacks early in the season. Trice also projects as a backup to one of these roles due to his 6'3'' and 206-pound frame. This could leave the Steelers in a situation where Ahkello Witherspoon and Levi Wallace could be fighting for one roster spot.

Despite his shortcomings and lack of downfield speed, the Steelers aren't going to cut Wallace after a four-interception season in 2022. Witherspoon is more likely to get the axe. Pittsburgh now also has two slot cornerbacks in Chandon Sullivan and Arthur Maulet -- neither of whom were impressive this past season.

As a late seventh-round pick, Cory Trice is far from a lock to make the final roster, but if he stays healthy, I do think the talent wins out here in the end. I have the Steelers keeping one extra CB and cutting ties with Maulet.
