Cory Trice Jr.

As previously mentioned, the Steelers already have plenty of depth at cornerback on the roster. Therefore, for Cory Trice Jr. to make the roster, he will have to make his mark on special teams. Luckily, he has the necessary traits to be an excellent gunner on kickoffs and punts. Trice is tall (6’3”), long (32 ⅜” arms), fast (4.47 40-yard dash), and an excellent tackler (4 missed tackles on nearly 2000 career snaps).

Ultimately, given that I expect Ahkello Witherspoon to be cut for cap reasons, Trice could earn more playing time on defense as the season progresses. If he can stay healthy, he could be deployed in interesting defensive packages against tight ends or bigger receivers. But health is a question mark for Trice, as it caused him to fall to the seventh round when many expected him to be a top-150 selection.

Verdict: Backup Cornerback, Special Teams Gunner
