How Steelers 2023 draft picks fit into depth chart

Spencer Anderson

This is the only rookie in the 2023 class that I do not expect to make the active roster. Spencer Anderson is a very good athlete with experience playing all five positions on the offensive line. But the Steelers go at least two deep at all five positions already. Unless someone ends up on injured reserve or gets cut after the preseason (*cough* Kendrick Green *cough*), there really isn’t a spot for Anderson.

Nevertheless, I think Anderson will be the first player added to the practice squad. He is valuable because of his versatility, and as soon as someone gets hurt this year, I expect Anderson to get the call-up for depth purposes. He will most likely be a gameday inactive, but having someone like Anderson in reserve is very important. Hopefully, he doesn’t need to play as a rookie.

Verdict: Backup Offensive Lineman, Swing Tackle/Guard
