Since trading Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers during the 2024 offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers had major questions surrounding the wide receiver position. These questions only grew more significant in the first month of the season.

Though Calvin Austin flashed with a strong performance in Week 3, no Steelers receiver outside of George Pickens has been consistent this year and Van Jefferson has been non-existent. Meanwhile, third-round rookie Roman Wilson missed the entire preseason and didn't suit up for a single game in September.

All the while, Steelers fans speculated about the possibility of pulling off a trade before the deadline after the deal on the table for 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk fell through. One name rumored was All-Pro receiver, Davante Adams.

With the Raiders sitting on a 2-2 record and still very much alive in the AFC race, trading Adams doesn't seem like a wise move. However, the latest report from Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal suggests the Raiders are growing open to the idea.

This report comes just one hour after the Raiders star wideout joined Kay Adams on Up & Adams. Davante was asked about his head coach Antonio Piece reportedly liking a post suggesting Adams will be traded.

Adams was asked if he thought he had already played his last down for Las Vegas, to which didn't shut down the idea.

Adams was ruled out of the Raiders' Week 4 contest against the Browns with a 'hamstring' injury, though media outlets have joked that he 'doesn't want to play for the Raiders' anymore.

Steelers should act fast on Davante Adams trade rumors

Whether Davante Adams is truly on the trade block, the Pittsburgh Steelers need to be the first team to call Raiders' general manager Tom Telesco about a trade. Mike Tomlin's team has outperformed expectations through the first four weeks of the season, and adding a bonafide weapon across from George Pickens could be just what the doctor ordered.

Meanwhile, Justin Fields -- who was expected to begin the year as Russell Wilson's backup -- is playing the best football of his NFL career and looks like he could be the answer for Pittsburgh. Imagine what he could do if the Steelers were able to swap Van Jefferson for Davante Adams on offense.

A trade for the All-Pro receiver will come at a price. Las Vegas won't be willing to part with Adams unless they get a good return, even if the veteran is disgruntled and wants a change of scenery. Though it's hard to say how much this could cost Pittsburgh, giving up a second-round pick and additional future mid-round draft capital could be the asking price.

For a team like the Steelers that may be a star receiver away from being a competitor in 2024, this could be a worthwhile investment.
