Safety: Plenty of questions after Fitzpatrick

Minkah Fitzpatrick: Entering the prime of his career and coming off an All-Pro season, there's no reason to suspect that Fitzpatrick will take a step backward in 2023. Minkah played arguably the best football of his career despite a defense that couldn't get pressure on the opposing QB when T.J. Watt was out.

Damontae Kazee: Kazee once led the NFL in interceptions, but those days are likely behind him. Still, the 30-year-old safety could be an asset. Though his 2022 sample of play is small, Kazee was good against both the run and the pass last year. He has impressive instincts and ball skills to help create takeaways.

Keanu Neal: Neal is a long way removed from his Pro Bowl season way back in 2017, and some would argue that he's been a liability to the Cowboys and Buccaneers over the past two years. In the right role, Neal could be an asset as a box safety. Just don't ask him to do too much in space.

Elijah Riley: Riley flashed during the 2022 preseason and turned heads in the handful of snaps he played last year. His NFL sample size is still very small, but if he has a strong camp, he could be part of the picture as a special teamer and rotational safety in 2023.

Miles Killebrew: Killebrew has been a special teams captain in the past, but he doesn't offer much in terms of ability on defense. If the veteran can hang onto his role, he will be the last option at safety but will earn plenty of snaps on special teams units. Killebrew seems to be in line to replace Marcus Allen as the upback on punt team duties.

Tre Norwood: The general title of 'defensive back' probably fits Tre Norwood best, as he truly is a sub-package defender. Norwood was unimpressive in 2022, and he will need to step up his game in 2023 if he wants to stick on the roster for the third straight year.

Kenny Robinson: The former Panthers safety has primarily been a special teams player, but he did carve out a minor role on defense in 2021. Robinson is a former fifth-round pick in 2020, but he would need an outstanding training camp to stick around in 2023.
