4. Steelers need safety help

I think the safety need is getting a bit overblown for Pittsburgh. Yes, the Steelers do need to add a safety somewhere in the 2023 NFL Draft, but this isn't as pressing of a need as many are making it out to be.

Minkah Fitzpatrick is the best in the game and has a fantastic track record when it comes to availability. While they did lose Terrell Edmunds, Pittsburgh let him walk away for pennies and easily could have matched the offer if they wanted to retain him. Meanwhile, Damontae Kazee graded out much better than Edmunds last year (though Kazee did spend the first half of the 2023 season on IR).

The plan could very well be for Kazee to start for the Steelers at strong safety in 2023. Though he's not an ideal fit in this role, Kazee has always been a playmaker in the secondary with ball production. However, severe injury concerns make this a relatively big need for Pittsburgh.

At the moment, they have players like Tre Norwood, Miles Killebrew, and Elijah Riley under contact. None of these players are ideal for big defensive roles. If the Steelers don't sign a safety in free agency, they could take one on the first two days of the NFL Draft.
