Steelers rumors early in free agency:

As the talent pool starts to dry up a bit in the first stage of free agency, Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan are on the scouting trail -- trying to balance front-office decisions while still scouting some of the best prospects in the nation. There aren't many legitimate rumors at the moment, but here are some of the whispers we are hearing.

Steelers likely to target CB at pick 17 in the NFL Draft

Multiple sources in the media seem to think that Pittsburgh's decisions so far in free agency are further proof that they will look to address the cornerback position in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. I would concur. This has been the rumor we've been hearing all along, and signing a nearly 33-year-old Patrick Peterson isn't going to change that. With major holes filled for the time being at off-ball linebacker, interior defender, and even safety, it's beginning to look this way.

Steelers may not be done in free agency

Some seem to suggest that, despite the shaky salary cap situation the team is currently in, Omar Khan could still be looking to sign one more mid-level free agent. Many have speculated that this could be a run-stopping interior defender. Though they may have just enough cap space to get one more move done, Khan admitted this offseason that he's open to backloading contracts and even tacking on voidable years if he feels that it will make his team more competitive.
