Tuesday, an NFL bombshell report surfaced. And, as was the case of a handful of other big rumors this calendar year, the Pittsburgh Steelers could be in the middle of all the rumors.

When Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce went out and "liked" the social media post about Davante Adams potentially playing his last game with the team, that's when things started to get real. The long-standing Adams trade whispers suddenly became smoke, which ultimately turned into fire in a matter of moments.

Adams officially requested a trade out of Las Vegas on Tuesday, and now it's only a matter of time before the Raiders deal him. Obviously, the Steelers are going to be in the discussion as they were oh, so close to trading for Brandon Aiyuk before the start of the season. And, this is a team that is still likely monitoring the wide receiver trade market.

With Justin Fields playing well and the Steelers at 3-1, this team should be doing everything they can to acquire the former All Pro. We now know the Raiders are going to be looking for a trade package that starts at a second-round pick plus "additional compensation."

So, what do the Steelers do to make this a reality?

The Steelers should get aggressive in a trade for Davante Adams

Look, every other team out there is going to be offering some type of deal similar to a package including a second-round pick and quite possibly a couple of later round selections. This is an opportunity for a very good team to do something significant.

If the Steelers want to ensure they land Adams, they've got to come up with something that will make it impossible for Las Vegas to refuse, and this is exactly that.

Davante Adams trade

In this deal, Vegas gets a trio of picks while sending Adams and a fifth-round selection back to Pittsburgh. But, instead of getting a second rounder plus something like a pair of sixths, Las Vegas is able to get a third and fourth as well.

It's a steep price to pay for a wide receiver that's soon to be 32 years old, but the thing is, Adams is still in his prime and this Steelers team is ready to win right now. Pittsburgh has done their fair share of trading over the last few years and will always be able to re-acquire future picks. That's not an issue.

But, it's not every day that a future Hall of Fame wide receiver becomes available and, oh by the way, he would happen to be the exact missing piece this team is looking for.

Pittsburgh shouldn't worry about sacrificing this kind of draft capital if it meant they landed Adams. He will still command the top defensive back's attention, leaving George Pickens much more room to work with and of course still allowing for less attention on the running ability of Fields.

If this is an offer the Raiders would accept, then Omar Khan needs to have the phone in-hand right now. Let's make it happen.
