Steelers 2025 mock draft after Week 1: Pittsburgh goes heavy on offense
Despite many experts thinking the Steelers would lose their Week 1 matchup against the Falcons, Pittsburgh emerged victorious. There is still a ton of football to be played between now and when the NFL draft takes place in late April. Not only is the NFL season going, but the college football season is getting ready for its third official week of action.
Players are fluidly moving up and down draft boards at this point in the year. Pittsburgh is expected to have multiple openings on their roster when the draft rolls around. It should be another impactful offseason for Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan. This mock draft was great for the Steelers to try and shoot their offense to new heights.
Steelers mock draft round 1: Travis Hunter, WR, Colorado
Easy decision here for the Steelers as they could use help at cornerback and wide receiver this offseason. Travis Hunter can play both positions, but it seems like it will be best for him to play his snaps at receiver. Pittsburgh needs to find a legitimate upgrade at the second receiver option on offense this upcoming offseason. Taking Hunter in this mock draft is a tremendous start.
Steelers mock draft round 2: Cam Ward, QB, Miami
He has been connected to the Steelers in other mock drafts, but Cam Ward could be a quick riser in the upcoming NFL draft. He wasn't on many radars coming into the season, but he might have started the college football campaign the best of any quarterback. Ward lasts till the second round here for the Steelers to provide a young option at the position and could eventually become the starter.
Steelers mock draft round 3: Nicholas Singleton, RB, Penn State
Sticking with Nicholas Singleton at this point in the mock draft, just like last time. He is an explosive runner and someone who could provide the "home-run hitting" ability at the position that the Steelers have lacked with Najee Harris. They could lose some of their power with a Singleton-Jaylen Warren duo, but they could become more explosive at the position in the long run.
Steelers mock draft round 4: Cobee Bryant, CB, Kansas
Donte Jackson had a great Week 1 performance, but he is a pending free agent after this season concludes. The Steelers will likely have to add to the position no matter if Jackson sticks around or not. Cobee Bryant is the choice here as he provides big play ability. He has been able to gain a wealth of starting experience at Kansas while consistently causing turnovers.
Steelers mock draft round 5: Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State
After a monster start to his season, Tyler Warren could go much earlier than the fifth round if he keeps on his current path. He has been Mr. Reliable for Penn State over the past couple of years and Drew Allar has counted on him as a safety blanket. Warren can do it all, and Arthur Smith will love that. Tight end is no longer a major area of focus for Pittsburgh, but this was great value.
Steelers mock draft round 5: Xavier Truss, OL, Georgia
Just like Singleton, Xavier Truss was on the last mock draft in this series. He has been playing right tackle this year, but he has played guard before. We will see where scouts envision him when he gets to the pro level, but his versatility only helps his cause. Truss has experience at both guard and tackle, which would be a benefit for the Steelers to fill out the offensive line next year.
Steelers mock draft round 7: Alfred Collins, DT, Texas
Big season for the big man out of Texas. He has played behind NFL talent over the past several years like Byron Murphy and T'Vondre Sweat. This is the time for Alfred Collins to show the NFL world what he's got. The Steelers take him at this point in the mock draft in hopes that Collins can challenge some of the depth guys on the roster heading into training camp next year.
Steelers mock draft round 7: Will Howard, QB, Ohio State
Another potential riser in this draft is Will Howard. He transferred to Ohio State after a couple of years of quality production at Kansas State. He is coming off of his best season which is why he became the starter with the Buckeyes. Howard has shown to be an effective passer, but he runs the ball like a running back, and that is something the Steelers would love to have as a developmental quarterback on their roster.
