Steelers 2025 mock draft: Justin Fields' success brings pause after Week 3

Justin Fields might've had a magical Week 3 performance for the Steelers, but quarterback should remain prevalent in the draft process.

Week 3 was another win for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and that means if the draft were held tomorrow, they would be picking with one of the last picks. There is still a ton of football to be played, but Fields could put the questions at quarterback to bed if he keeps up or excels past his current production. The position remains in the spotlight for the Steelers as the 2025 NFL Draft gets another week closer.

Other needs at receiver and cornerback could be other levels that need to be addressed in the upcoming draft. There is no easy path when it comes to which player will be selected where this early into the process. It is always fun to look ahead at some prospects who could join Pittsburgh in mock drafts as the season pushes further. This scenario provided a lot of help on the offensive side of the ball.

Steelers mock draft round 1: Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona

A quarterback doesn't make it to round one for the Steelers in this mock draft. Instead, they go to a more pressing need after Week 3, which remains at receiver. Tetairoa McMillan would be a terrific choice by Pittsburgh here. We know the team has already scouted him early into the season and he has put up big numbers through Arizona's first three games. McMillan is averaging over 100 receiving yards and a touchdown per game.

Steelers mock draft round 2: Maxwell Hairston, CB, Kentucky

He's coming off his breakout season, but Maxwell Hairston could jump up draft boards if he can continue that success through this year. He is only a Junior, and that is something the Steelers like in their day-two picks. He is quality value at this point in the mock draft as his size and ability to both cause turnovers and tackle will intrigue teams. With Donte Jackson scheduled to hit free agency, Hairston can take over a starting spot.

Steelers mock draft round 3: Drew Allar, QB, Penn State

Justin Fields is coming off his best performance yet as the Steelers starting quarterback, but that doesn't mean the team shouldn't have a plan in place if he fails. Drew Allar is the pick here as his future with Penn State will depend on how his draft stock fluctuates. He is a project coming out of the draft right now, but he has a ton of tools that will make scouts excited.

Steelers mock draft round 4: DeMonte Capehart, DT, Clemson

Cam Heyward and the defensive line have been solid through the first three weeks of the season. They still need to find ways of injecting youth into the trenches and that is why the Steelers take DeMonte Capehart here. He is entering his first season where he will have a big role on the Clemson defense. Pittsburgh took Capehart in this mock draft because of his prototypical frame.

Steelers mock draft round 5: Joshua Gray, OT, Oregon State

Pittsburgh showed interest in his former teammate in this past draft (Taliese Fuaga), so you'd have to imagine the Steelers noticed Joshua Gray on the other side. The black and gold need a swing tackle, and even though Gray hasn't played on both sides, he would provide young depth to the tackle position. He could turn into a swing tackle, which is something the Steelers have been missing.

Steelers mock draft round 5: Jalon Daniels, QB, Kansas

It has not been a great start to the season for Jalon Daniels of Kansas, He does not have any relation to Commander's quarterback, Jayden Daniels. But the quarterback selected here is someone who brings a ton of athleticism with him. He would be a nice option to have as a third-string guy to learn behind a starter. If Daniels cannot turn his season around, then his draft stalk could sink.

Steelers mock draft round 7: Jimmy Horn Jr., WR, Colorado

Another Calvin Austin III type here with Jimmy Horn Jr. The guy has the speed to burn, but he is a small receiver. The Steelers need options on offense, and Horn is someone who could push for a roster spot on day one. He has started this season at Colorado strong and has proven that he can also contribute as a kick and punt returner. Good value at this point in the mock draft.

Steelers mock draft round 7: Kaytron Allen, RB, Penn State

Rounding out this mock draft with someone who has gone mostly unnoticed at Penn State. Kaytron Allen has been a part of one of the best rushing duos in college football over the past couple of years with Nick Singleton. With Najee Harris likely leaving in free agency, the Steelers will need a power back to play with Jaylen Warren. Allen would be a perfect option, and the fans will love his nickname, which is "fat man".
