Steelers roster predictions: Guard and offensive tackle

Offensive Guard – (4) – Isaac Seumalo, James Daniels, Nate Herbig and Kevin Dotson

New left guard, Isaac Seumalo, did a good job in his Steelers debut. They ran to the left with success. That’s something you couldn’t say a year ago. James Daniels is the best player on the right side of the line. Dotson was a disappointing starter at left guard but he should be a decent sub. Nate Herbig has looked solid. This is a good offensive guard unit.

Offensive Tackle (4) – Broderick Jones, Chuks Okorafor, Dan Moore and player not on team

Broderick Jones hasn’t started yet, but he’s played the bulk of the preseason games at LT. I’ve been reading a bunch of nonsense about his ‘late hand placement’ and his ‘ups and downs’, etc. This is nitpicking. Jones looks and plays like a starting-caliber NFL left tackle.

Tampa ran stunts at him all night and he picked them all up. He has looked big, powerful, and in control.  He’s already a huge improvement over Dan Moore. Sure, he's still learning but he’s made a strong case he can do that on the job. Jones should start Week 1.

Right tackle, Chuks Okorafor, is the same mediocre commodity he’s always been but we’re stuck with him for another year. As much as I’ve hated Dan Moore as a starter he might make an adequate swing lineman. La’Raven Clark has played a lot of snaps at RT and a few at RG and has done a decent job. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Steelers add a veteran OT at cut time.
