Steelers roster predictions: Edge defender and linebacker

Edge Rusher (4) - T.J. Watt, Alex Highsmith, Markus Golden and Nick Herbig

Nick Herbig has been on fire. He showcased his quickness and pass-rushing moves against the Bucs getting 1.5 sacks and a tackle for loss. He added another sack and forced a fumble against the Bills and a sack against the Falcons. The Steelers have to be over the moon with what they’ve seen.

Watt and Highsmith have looked great in limited action. Markus Golden has 4 tackles, again, in limited action. This is a great group of edge rushers.

Inside Linebacker (4) - Cole Holcomb, Elandon Roberts, Kwon Alexander and Mark Robinson

The projected starters are Holcomb (WILL) and Roberts (MACK). Against Tampa, Kwon Alexander made a strong case he should be starting at WILL. He blew up a runner and got called for a non-existent penalty because he barely touched a player’s chin with his helmet. I just read he’s also been fined for this play.

(Begin Rant) I’m really sick of flag football enthusiast, Roger Goodell, trying to destroy the game of football. These are grown men out there. They don’t need the NFL to be their mommies and daddies.

Make football violent again! Jack Lambert for Commissioner! (End Rant)

Robinson has looked totally jacked and has 14 tackles and a forced fumble. I thought the Steelers were grooming him to be a WILL but he looks and plays like a MACK. That makes him the most likely backup for Elandon Roberts. Robinson looks roster-ready. Tanner Muse is also a candidate for the final ILB slot and it would be safer to stash Robinson on the practice squad. It’s a coin toss on this one but I’m going with Robinson.
