A Massive Trade by the Steelers puts the team on notice this Offseason

Johnson trade

What a way to start the offseason here by trading away Diontae Johnson. There are reports that he might want out of Pittsburgh. If the current quarterback situation doesn't improve, no one should blame him. He wants a new contract, and it's highly unlikely that it will be with Pittsburgh. The Steelers trade him to the Panthers for a top third-round pick in the draft. They also save ten million in cap space with this trade.

Now we move on to the remaining cap casualties for this offseason. The Steelers finally make the Allen Robinson II cut official. They wanted to work out a pay cut for him to stick around as a leader in the receiver room, but they failed to do it before free agency started. He will test the market before coming back to the Steelers about a potential return. This saves them another ten million.

Not a big move here, but the black and gold release Keanu Neal. He was signed last year, and things just haven't worked out. Injuries played a big factor, but even when Neal was on the field, he didn't play well. Damontae Kazee sticks around since he can play different roles, but Neal isn't worth keeping. This move saves the Steelers a little over two million bucks.

Right before free agency, Pittsburgh decides to move on from Larry Ogunjobi. They don't seem afraid of moving on from past mistakes. Ogunjobi signed an extension last offseason, but he has not played up to that contract. With some quality defensive linemen available both in the draft and free agency, the Steelers decide to move on. This move saves the club a little over six million.
