Steelers mock draft Round 3: Mike Sainristil, CB, Michigan

Rounding out day three here by going cornerback. The Steelers wished they had a good defensive tackle prospect fall to them here, but they still have Keeanu Benton, Cam Heyward, and Larry Ogunjobi as starting options. They will need to heavily invest in the defensive trenches after this upcoming season, but this mock offseason just didn't work out.

The Steelers select Mike Sainristil out of Michigan here. He is a cornerback, but he will be a great option to upgrade the slot. Sullivan was re-signed earlier in free agency, but he is better off as a depth piece rather than a starter. Adding Sainristil provides a new starter who should be able to handle the slot corner role for the foreseeable future.

Patrick Peterson is still around and it seems like he could play at multiple spots this upcoming season. He isn't a quality outside cornerback anymore. He could also factor into the slot corner competition when training camp comes around. Sainristil should be able to provide the Steelers with a Mike Hilton-type of player that they have been missing.

Another quality pick to end day two of the draft for the Steelers. They have now locked down some needs that they had entering the draft. Pittsburgh gets stronger across the offensive line and adds a cornerback that should be able to start in the slot on day one. Sainristil is a name to watch for as the draft process continues to play out.
