What an eventful week this turned out to be. When the legal tampering period kicked off on Monday, I don't think many expected Omar Khan to be as active as he was during his first offseason as the Pittsburgh Steelers general manager. Over the past five days, it has been out with the old and in with the new with players like Patrick Peterson, Cole Holcomb, Nate Herbig, and Elandon Roberts joining the squad.

Somehow Khan managed to travel from one school to the next on the scouting trail during this busy time, and that continued by making a stop at one of their favorite schools yesterday. Here's the latest Steelers news.

Steelers news:

There were some big schools on the Pro Day schedule this week. Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan were on hand at Clemson's Pro Day before making their way to Georgia to scope out some high-profile prospects like OT Broderick Jones, EDGE Nolan Smith, and CB Kelee Ringo. On Thursday, Pittsburgh's brass was on hand at Michigan's Pro Day.

The Steelers are notorious for selecting plays from the state of Michigan, as Coach Tomlin has plenty of connections here. This year, the top prospects out of the University of Michigan include DT Mazi Smith, DL Mike Morris, and CB DJ Turner. It's worth noting that the Steelers have already had a formal visit with Morris at the NFL Combine -- putting him firmly on their draft radar as early as day two this year.

More Steelers news:

When Patrick Peterson signed with the Steelers, he posted a photoshopped image of himself in a Steelers uniform. However, this didn't sit well with fans and many were quick to point out that he won't be able to wear the number seven this year. Peterson agreed. Yesterday a video from the Pittsburgh Steelers Twitter account shows him picking out his new jersey number.

Peterson will wear the number 20 for the Steelers. His cousin and podcast partner is former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback, Bryant McFadden, who wore the same number during Pittsburgh's Super Bowl teams from 2005-2008.

NFL news:

There's some drama brewing in Cincinnati and Steelers fans are here for it. After the Bengals signed left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. out of the blue, we learned that OT Jonah Williams has requested a trade. Williams was the 11th overall pick by the Bengals back in 2019 and he's coming off a forgettable season.

It remains to be seen whether or not the Bengals will grant Williams his request. If he stays in Cincy, it looks like he may be pegged as a guard (which could make a really big difference in the payday he could earn entering a contract year). Williams is still just 25 years old and there should be some teams interested if Cincinnati indeed decides to trade him.
