The slot corner job could come down to two unproven players

Steelers General Manager Omar Khan took to 93.7 The Fan on Thursday and gave an interesting outline of the team's plan to replace Arthur Maulet. According to Khan, the current course of action is to let Chandon Sullivan and Duke Dawson battle it out for the starting slot position. Dawson, who joined the Steelers last season, has not logged a snap in a regular season game since 2020.

Khan also alluded to "other young guys" being in the mix at the slot. It's hard to imagine seventh-round pick Cory Trice Jr. vying for that spot as he plays a similar style to Patrick Peterson and Joey Porter Jr as opposed to that of Arthur Maulet and Cameron Sutton. The Steeler's 90-man roster is yet to be solidified and could see new faces find their way into the position battle by the time training camp rolls around.

Looking at the Steelers roster today, it's difficult to tell what other "young guys" would even have a shot at taking over the starting slot corner position should the Steelers opt not to sign a free agent or have a combination of Chandon Sullivan and Duke Dawson take over the job.
