Emerging new report on Brandon Aiyuk trade will have Steelers fans' heads spinning
It seems like it is only a matter of time until there is a conclusion to the Brandon Aiyuk saga.
Rumors intensified earlier this week that the Steelers were among three teams in the mix to add Aiyuk via trade. First, the Patriots dropped out of the running after being told the star player did not want to sign an extension there. Cleveland remains in the mix, but it sounds like Pittsburgh is where Aiyuk wants to land if the 49ers refuse to budge in contract talks.
Many fans have anticipated a deal to happen over the past couple of days, but there is no news just yet. It has been said that the Steelers will be the destination if Aiyuk does get traded. A conclusion should come within the next few days. This might be a complicated trade that could bring another team into the mix.
It just came out that there could be a third team getting involved in this deal as Pittsburgh doesn't want to send a receiver back to San Francisco in a proposal.
The Steelers, 49ers, and Raiders complete a complex three team blockbuster
One of the ideas floating out on the internet is the 49ers targeting Davante Adams as a potential flip.
It would solve their receiver issue for this season after subtracting Aiyuk. They might not get a receiver from the Steelers, but they get an upgrade over Aiyuk by flipping some picks. This would make a ton of sense as the 49ers and Steelers are trying to win now, and the Raiders are considered a basement dweller this year.
Adams has voiced his frustrations about where Las Vegas currently sits as a team heading into this campaign.
A nice jumpstart for the Raiders' rebuild as they get a couple of day two selections from the Steelers and 49ers in this three-team trade. It will allow them to load up on young talent over the next two drafts to hopefully turn their ship around. Yes, they might suffer for the next little while, but it could open the door for potential winning down the line.
Pittsburgh gets the guy they have been targeting for months in this deal. They do lose Nick Herbig in the process, but the offense is something the team needs to lean more into. Add in the fact they signed Markus Golden and Jeremiah Moon is having a good camp, and Herbig could become an option to trade.
When it comes to San Francisco, they should be thrilled with this outcome. They get an upgrade on the edge to help take some pressure off of Nick Bosa. They also add an upgrade with Adams entering their already-loaded offense. The 49ers should be all-in this year and this trade would show that. It would be a complex deal, and that could be the reason for a hold-up.
