By most accounts, the Pittsburgh Steelers killed it in the 2023 NFL Draft. With a run on offensive tackles early, it looked like Omar Khan was going to have to look elsewhere in the first round, but an aggressive move to trade up helped them land Broderick Jones, and the draft board flowed beautifully from there.

Early grades would suggest that the Steelers found tremendous value all over the draft, and the NFL consensus board would confirm. At least on paper, Khan turned his seven picks into an impressive haul. Here's a recap of Pittsburgh's 2023 draft results:

Steelers 2023 draft class:

  • 1st round (14 overall trade-up) - Broderick Jones, OT, Georgia
  • 2nd round (32 overall) - Joey Porter Jr. CB, Penn State
  • 2nd round (49th overall) - Keeanu Benton, DT, Wisconsin
  • 3rd round (93 overall) - TE Darnell Washington, TE, Georgia
  • 4th round (132 overall) - Nick Herbig, OLB, Wisconsin
  • 7th round (241 overall) - Cory Trice, CB, Purdue
  • 7th round (251 overall) - Spencer Anderson, OL, Maryland

Immediately following the NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers front office got busy signing undrafted free agents. Here's a look at every UDFA they have inked a deal with so far:

Steelers undrafted free agent tracker 2023:

  • QB Tanner Morgan, Minnesota
  • RB Jordan Byrd, San Diego State
  • FB Monte Pottenbaum, Iowa
  • ED David Perales, Fresno State
  • DL James Nyamwaya, Merrimack College
  • K B.T. Potter, Clemson

According to Over the Cap, the Pittsburgh Steelers now have 85 players on their 90-man summer roster. Though it's unlikely that these undrafted free agents will earn roster spots for the 2023 season, there are a few who stand a better chance than others.

Tanner Morgan, the former Minnesota quarterback, is a player who could potentially stick around if the Steelers don't decide to add a seasoned veteran or more quarterback competition to the roster for training camp. Morgan is unimpressive from both a size and athletic standpoint, but with only Kenny Pickett and Mitch Trubisky on the roster, he will at least be given a look this summer.

Former Iowa fullback, Monte Pottenbaum, also stands a shot at cracking the roster. The Steelers really seem to like this kid as he was a bully paving the way for running backs during his college career. If Derek Watt isn't brought back and Pottenbaum is the lone fullback they roll with during training camp, he will have a chance to stick around.

We will continue to update this list as Steelers undrafted free agents roll in. Perhaps a name or two on this list could make their mark over the next several months and find themselves with a role on this team.
