We are in the final week of OTAs and a lot could change for the Steelers between now and the start of training camp. They could make moves as players get cut or become available via trade. We know Pittsburgh would like to add some pieces to their roster, but it might take time.
Many will have their eyes on different players the black and gold could add to their team, but they could also subtract. Certain notable players could be dealt from Pittsburgh if certain situations arise. Some starters could become available on the market for the right price. We will see if the Steelers pull the trigger if certain scenarios play out.
Damontae Kazee could be a surprising name traded this preseason
Here's a fairly big name who could find himself on the trade block for the Steelers. Damontae Kazee can play starting snaps for a team, but he is better used as a role player. If Pittsburgh would be willing to trade Kazee, then they better feel pretty confident in other depth options at safety. With DeShon Elliott in the fold, Kazee could struggle to find as much playing time as last season.
The Steelers could trade Kyle Allen if his job comes into question
It is unlikely that Kyle Allen will get a ton of heat for his job as the Steeler's third quarterback. If John Rhys Plumlee somehow finds a way to steal snaps from him, then he could become available. Again, Allen's job is pretty safe, but in case of Plumlee somehow impressing, his job could come under fire. Allen is a solid depth quarterback and could garner some attention on the trade market.
Nate Herbig could find a new home during or after training camp
Another unlikely option, but Nate Herbig could find himself on the trade block come the end of training camp. The Steelers have Zach Frazier as their starter and Herbig is an expensive backup as a whole. If another depth option emerges then Herbig could become available via trade. He has experience at center and guard, which could be intriguing to a bunch of teams.
A receiver like Quez Watkins could be the odd man out for the Steelers
There are a ton of receivers on the Steelers roster heading into training camp. There are only so many slots, and it seems like the team is trying to find a legitimate upgrade to fill out their starting group. Someone like Quez Watkins could find himself traded if he can produce a quality preseason and the black and gold find an upgrade elsewhere. Watkins can play both inside and outside and provide some special teams snaps when called upon.
Dan Moore Jr. could be shipped out if he loses his job in training camp
Perhaps the most notable player on this list is none other than Dan Moore Jr. He has been the starter at left tackle for some time, but the Steelers seem like they want to move Broderick Jones over to that spot.
If Troy Fautanu wins the right tackle spot and Jones moves over to the left side, then Moore's roster spot makes less sense. He isn't a swing tackle, so he could be traded to an offensive line-needy team. Moore also needs a new contract after this year, so that could play a role in him getting traded.
