The Pittsburgh Steelers wrapped up their final preseason game against the Falcons, and now all eyes are on the final cutdown day as teams shape their final roster. I’ll do as many fans do and try my best to predict what the final 53-man roster will look like.
In addition to just listing out 53 names, I will also include a potential surprise cut from the list where applicable. While some of those names may not truly be surprising, it will add a little more to this roster build. With all of that said, here is my final Steelers 53-man roster prediction.
Quarterback (3):
Steelers roster prediction: Kenny Pickett, Mitchell Trubisky, Mason Rudolph
This is a pretty chalk group, and it has been since Mason Rudolph resigned late in the offseason. Kenny Pickett is coming off an impressive preseason bout and is the face of this offense for the next few years at least. Mitchell Trubisky is a good backup who is firmly entrenched in his role.
I did have hope that Tanner Morgan would show some of the film he had early in his days at Minnesota, but that didn’t materialize. With Morgan fading, the trio here is set in stone, and I wouldn’t expect anyone to get cut on Tuesday assuming the Steelers keep three quarterbacks.
Potential surprise cut: Rudolph
I will not lock Rudolph into the third quarterback role quite yet. He had a subpar training camp and wasn’t a priority to return this year. If an intriguing name becomes available, Rudolph could easily be cut in favor of them.
