A surprising name sticks in Steelers final roster prediction
By Andrew Falce
Offensive Line (8):
Steelers roster prediction: Dan Moore, Isaac Seumalo, Mason Cole, James Daniels, Chukwuma Okorafor, Broderick Jones, Nate Herbig, Spencer Anderson
I went light along the offensive line, but that is more due to the versatility of the backups as opposed to them lacking names. When two of your backups can play every interior position and even some tackle, it doesn’t necessitate a ninth lineman to be kept.
The starters are set as of now, even if that means that Dan Moore will be the left tackle in week one instead of Broderick Jones. Jones had a fine offseason, but Moore looked like the better and more consistent left tackle. Jones will get there eventually, but he seems poised to start the year as the backup.
Nate Herbig was signed to a sizeable deal, and he appears set to back up both of the guard spots and be the second center. There isn’t another viable backup center currently on the roster, so Herbig figures to be the key name there. If the team did keep nine offensive linemen, I would assume that player would be center-capable and not currently on this roster.
Spencer Anderson rounds out this group as yet another versatile backup. He played every position for this team in camp, and he figures to wear a lot of hats this season. He could fill in at either guard spot or even right tackle comfortably.
Dylan Cook made a push-up the depth chart, but I feel like he is a better fit on the practice squad. Kevin Doston could be kept, but the interior depth is strong and I would prefer to see him traded. Again, the only way I see nine here is if they really felt a need to keep Cook or, more than likely, they add a center from another roster.
Potential surprise cut: None
All of these names are locks to make the team, and there isn’t anyone here I could see getting cut.
