Pittsburgh Steelers must score on offense

It's hard to win in the NFL without scoring points. Pittsburgh Steelers fans understand this pain well. Campaigns for a new offensive coordinator are not personal attacks on Matt Canada. Fans are just tired of watching their franchise struggle to reach the endzone. It's become a sight for sore eyes.

This season, the Steelers rank 31st in offensive ratings (56.2). An audible at the line of scrimmage saved the Steelers from a gut-wrenching loss to the Ravens. Kenny Picket recognized a weakness in Baltimore's defense. He changed the original play call.

Matt Canada must call his best plays on Sunday afternoon. Empty drives kill momentum. They also put the defense in bad positions. George Pickens and Calvin Austin III must carry the load at receiver. A hamstring injury may limit Pat Freiermuth's involvement, but his presence will make a difference. The Steelers have not lost when they scored 17 or more points in a game this season. Finding the endzone is imperative for a win on the road.

A bye week gave the Pittsburgh Steelers a perfect time to rest. We are almost halfway through the regular season. Every game will have value. Defeating the Los Angeles Rams is a good step in the right direction. It will give Mike Tomlin's team confidence heading into a vital part of the season.
