The Steelers roster ought to look very different in the near future, as this team prepares to, hopefully, upgrade the roster in free agency and in the draft. While there will be a handful of new faces to get to know, don’t be surprised when this team brings back some familiar players to this roster.

On the surface, most fans are expecting these four players to be off the team in 2023. As potential cuts or pending free agents with little fanfare, most people have written off their odds of sticking around. That said, I wouldn’t be shocked to see these four players stick around with the Steelers for the 2023 season.

Steelers could stash Chris Wormley

One of the better trades for the Steelers came in the form of Chris Wormley joining the team from the Ravens. His first year here was marred with inconsistencies, but he found some footing in year two and played very well. He was having a similar impact last year until he tore his ACL late in the season.

An injury like that will keep him sidelined through all of the offseason and likely into the season. That said, the Steelers could bring him back on a minimum deal and stash him. He could start on the PUP list in camp as he continues to rehab and shoot for a midseason return. Wormley is an experienced and talented depth player, so having him as an option later in the year would be a win.
