The Pittsburgh Steelers have kicked off the 2024 season phenomenally, starting 3-0 for the fourth time under Head Coach Mike Tomlin. This strong start has once again shown the consistency and preparation that Tomlin brings to the team. With their impressive early performance, the Steelers are in a prime position to add more victories to the column. If they can finish the first half of the season with an undefeated record it would lay a foundation for a playoff run.

However, the road ahead is not without challenges. In Week 4, the Steelers travel to Lucas Oil Stadium to take on the Indianapolis Colts, followed by a pivotal home matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.

The tests continue with a trip to Las Vegas in Week 6, where they will battle the Raiders before hosting the New York Jets at home. Each game presents different challenges, but Pittsburgh is well-equipped to succeed on this journey.

Much of the Steelers' early success is credited to their top-ranked defense, which leads the league in points allowed (26) and total yards allowed per game (229.7).

This defense, spearheaded by All-Pro talents like T.J. Watt and Minkah Fitzpatrick, has been the backbone of their 3-0 start. It has allowed Pittsburgh to control the pace of games and put opposing offenses on the back foot early.

Steelers can remain undefeated entering the BYE Week

For Pittsburgh to continue winning, they must rely heavily on this defense, especially with the upcoming slate of dangerous offensive X-factors ahead. Players like Aaron Rodgers, DeVante Adams, and CeeDee Lamb will pose significant threats. Luckily, the Steelers’ defense will neutralize even the best weapons in the league.

Joey Porter Jr., Donte Jackson, and Deshon Elliot work diligently against proficient passers. This secondary has improved from previous seasons but must eliminate the best to show approval.

If the Steelers’ defense remains solid and continues to dictate the tempo of games, it will provide ample support to their developing offense. The opportunity to enter the bye week with an impressive record is within reach, and as long as they stick to their game plan, Pittsburgh could be looking at a season that positions them among the AFC’s elite.

Coach Tomlin’s ability to prepare his team for these challenges has never been in question, and with their stellar defense leading the way, the Steelers are poised to take another step forward on their quest for postseason success. The sky is the limit as long as the defense continues to play well and Justin Fields improves.
