Entering the 2023 free agency period, the Pittsburgh Steelers didn't have a ton of salary cap space to work with. However, it wasn't at all surprising to see Omar Khan work his magic in the financial department in order to clear up enough space to make a notable splash in free agency.

Sadly, the Steelers are now left very thin when it comes to spending money. Signing players like Patrick Peterson, Cole Holcomb, and Isaac Seumalo -- in addition to extending Larry Ogunjobi -- ate up a good chunk of their available salary cap space.

The Steelers also traded for wide receiver Allen Robinson recently, and his $5 million cap number that Pittsburgh will pay is fully guaranteed this season. With all of these contracts now on the books, how much cap space do the Steelers have entering the 2023 NFL Draft?

Steelers cap space pre-2023 NFL Draft

Just ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers have $5,553,798 in salary cap space, according to Over the Cap. While this may seem like a decent amount considering the number of moves the team has been able to make during the offseason, they are going to need more cap space very soon.

Their effective cap space after roster displacement is just $1.18 million and they currently have 70 players under contract on their 90-man offseason roster. However, this isn't even taking into account that Khan will need to sign his entire 2023 draft class this spring.

Doing so will require the team to free up additional salary cap space. It's also worth mentioning that the Steelers -- under the direction of former GM Kevin Colbert -- always liked to enter the season with $7-9 million in salary cap space in the event of injuries.

There's still some work to be done when it comes to the financial side of things. The Pittsburgh Steelers are certainly cap compliant, but you can expect more moves to be made to free up salary cap space shortly after the 2023 NFL Draft.
