The Steelers defense blanked the Falcons offense to cap off an impressive 2023 preseaon

Look, I will never get overly excited about what I see on either side of the ball in preseason, but to end it in the manner in which we did is cause for jubilation. We shut out an opponent in their stadium in the last game of the preseason.

I would like to think and would hope that the performance by the defense would translate into a similar performance in week one, but I realize that is not always the case; however, holding an opponent to less than two hundred yards of total offense is impressive, no matter how you slice it.

We were able to recover two fumbles and were able to 'get home' five times. Backups or no backups, that is a performance of which the defense can be proud. Nick Herbig again registered a sack. I think we found a 'gem' there.

My hope is that the performance the defense had against the Falcons can be replicated in week one when it counts, as I stated about the offense. Honestly, I see no reason why that can't happen on both sides of the ball.

Let's see what else we learned.
