Following the longest stretch of the calendar year without any football, we can finally see the 2023 season on the horizon. Pittsburgh Steelers fans have more reason than ever to be excited.
In his first offseason as general manager, Omar Khan bolstered Pittsburgh's roster in free agency and through the NFL Draft. Now it's nearly time to watch this new-look Steelers team in action. But when do the Steelers report for training camp?
When do players report to Steelers training camp?
The NFL has announced the reporting dates for each team this summer. According to CBS News Pittsburgh, players will report to Steelers training camp at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe Pennsylvania on Wednesday, July 26th.
Players will arrive at different times throughout the day, as the Steelers rookie class could roll in sooner. They will stay on the Saint Vincent College campus throughout the duration of training camp practices in Latrobe.
When is the Steelers first training camp practice?
Pittsburgh will host their first practice at Steelers training camp one day after arrival on Thursday, July 27th. however, it's worth noting that their first four practices -- which run from Thursday, July 27th to Saturday, July 30th -- will be unpadded practices.
Beginning on August 1st, the Pittsburgh Steelers will be in full pads for practice at Saint Vincent College for training camp. Their Friday Night Lights practice on August 4th will be the only training camp practice not held at Saint Vincent College. Instead, this practice will begin at 7 p.m. ET and be held at Latrobe Memorial Stadium under the lights. You can check out the full Steelers training camp schedule here.
Will the Steelers hold joint practices at training camp?
While fans would love to see nothing more than the Steelers practice against another NFL team during their stay in Latrobe, Pittsburgh is not scheduled to host any joint practices nor take part in any this summer, according to the CBS Sports joint practice schedule.
A grand total of 27 other NFL teams will be participating in joint practice sessions during training camp. Many of these teams will have multiple practice sessions against two opponents. The Pittsburgh Steelers joined the Bills, Cowboys, Chiefs, and Seahawks as the only other teams who are not participating in joint practices this year.
