Recent bold Steelers prediction may not be as unlikely as it seems

This sounds too good to be true.

There’s a different aura surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers this year.

From the front office to the practice field, there’s no secret about it—Omar Khan and his revamped roster are more determined now than ever to make a legitimate run at a championship.

A slew of impressive acquisitions throughout the offseason helped Mike Tomlin’s team turn the page from a discouraging end to the 2024 season.

With those blunders behind them, Pittsburgh spent the summer fine-tuning its schemes, sharpening its edges, and welcoming some of the biggest names the franchise has rostered in years.

Aaron Rodgers. DK Metcalf. Jalen Ramsey. Those aren’t just additions—they’re statements.

And with those names wearing black and gold, the Steelers aren’t flying under anyone’s radar. Fans and analysts expect big things from this team, including CBS Sports insider John Breech.

Breech recently made one of the boldest predictions yet: he sees Pittsburgh’s first loss of the 2025 campaign coming in Week 7 on the road against the Cincinnati Bengals.

That’s not exactly an insult—it’s high praise.

Breech’s prediction suggests the Steelers will roll through the first six weeks of the season unscathed before meeting a familiar divisional foe.

On paper, this roster looks distinguished, maybe even unstoppable. But football isn’t played on paper, and Breech’s words serve as a reminder that every Sunday is a test, especially in the AFC North.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have more work to do before the regular season

Let’s face it, the Steelers are still in a questionable phase.

It wasn’t that long ago when offensive firepower was their Achilles’ heel, limiting their postseason potential.

Yes, the roster now includes All-Pro talent at multiple positions, but there’s no guarantee this team will start hot. Timing, chemistry, and execution still have to be earned.

To Breech’s credit, history gives his take some weight. In 2024, Mike Tomlin’s squad entered Week 7 with a 4-2 record, powered by then-quarterback Justin Fields.

They weren’t a bad team, but they weren’t built to last. This year, the story is different

Rodgers brings Hall of Fame experience. Metcalf adds explosiveness at receiver. Ramsey solidifies the secondary. The upgrades are undeniable, but so is the challenge ahead.

Pittsburgh faces the 10th-hardest strength of schedule in the NFL, and a divisional road game in Cincinnati is never a walk in the park.

I can see where Breech is coming from.

Predicting the Bengals to hand the Steelers their first loss is far from far-fetched.

At the same time, I can’t help but think about how sweet it would be to watch this team shock the league with an undefeated start.

Imagine the conversation if the Steelers sit at 6-0, entering Week 7 with a chance to keep momentum rolling. That would be a sight to see.

But here’s the truth: an undefeated start means nothing if it ends in disappointment.

The goal isn’t to go unbeaten through the fall—it’s to be standing tall in January.

If a loss in Week 7 humbles this group and refocuses them for the stretch run, then maybe Breech’s prediction wouldn’t be the worst thing after all.
