Steelers 2025 mock draft after Week 12: Pittsburgh ends wide receiver woes
Most might not be looking out for the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft right now as the Steelers sit with an 8-3 record. Something seems off with Pittsburgh's football team at the moment so it might be time to look ahead some. Maybe things are not in disaster mode right now, but the black and gold are looking a little flat since their loss against the Browns on Thursday Night Football in Week 12.
Hope is still in the air for Pittsburgh as they sit comfortably in the division standings. It won't be easy, but the Steelers should be able to make the playoffs and give someone a fight. They will have to overcome a difficult conclusion to their schedule.
It might cause more stress for those who cheer on the black and gold rather than install belief. It could always turn people towards thinking about the future.
Steelers mock draft round 1: Emeka Egbuka, WR, Ohio State
It's not very often that the Steelers take a receiver in the first round, but they break that trend by selecting Emeka Egbuka. He started his season slow but has boosted his numbers significantly since then. Egbuka can play both in the slot and outside in an NFL offense. Pittsburgh needs to upgrade their receiving core rapidly this offseason, and adding Egbuka here is great value.
Steelers mock draft round 2: Deone Walker, DT, Kentucky
Going into day two of this mock draft, the Steelers want to get quality youth in the defensive trenches. They take Deone Walker out of Kentucky to hopefully fill the defensive line spot for a while. He has the size and length the Steelers covet in defensive linemen. Walker has not produced at the level many hoped for this season, but he should test well, and he has prior numbers that will keep his draft stock high.
Steelers mock draft round 3: Azareye'h Thomas, CB, Florida State
Sticking with a cornerback early in another mock draft, especially with the issues the Steelers secondary has shown as of late. They take Azareye'h Thomas out of Florida State here to become the opposite cornerback of Joey Porter Jr. He has terrific size for a cornerback and plenty of starting experience. Florida State is having a down year, but Thomas should be able to transition to the NFL well.

Steelers mock draft round 4: Luke Kandra, OG, Cincinnati
Since Isaac Seumalo will be a pending free agent going into next season, it might be best to draft his replacement like Pittsburgh did with James Daniels and Mason McCormick this year. Luke Kandra is an interesting prospect coming out of Cincinnati. He is a nasty run blocker and someone the black and gold will love in the pre-draft process. Another quality value pick here by the Steelers.
Steelers mock draft round 5: Riley Leonard, QB, Notre Dame
Pittsburgh is going to need to either sign or draft a quarterback or two this offseason. It might be best if they sign one and draft one around this point in the draft. Riley Leanard is someone who was getting a lot of draft hype before he suffered a season-ending injury last year. He has won a lot of games with Notre Dame since transferring and that should make Leonard a nice developmental piece.
Steelers mock draft round 7: Hollin Pierce, OT, Rutgers
Trying to find a quality swing tackle could be difficult, but the Steelers take a chance on one at this point in the mock draft. Hollin Pierce is a giant of an offensive tackle and someone who can hopefully develop more at the NFL level. He has started games both at right and left tackle, which is exactly what they need. Pierce has enough room to possibly grow into a starting spot.
Steelers mock draft round 7: Theo Wease Jr., WR, Missouri
Pittsburgh rounds out this mock draft by double-dipping at receiver after selecting Theo Wease Jr. He started off his career at Oklahoma before transferring to Missouri. He is having one of the best seasons of his collegiate career. Wease has been overshadowed by his talented teammate Luther Burden III. Steelers take a chance on Wease who has been productive enough to challenge for a roster spot.
