Finding a long-term quarterback is something every team is searching for. Whether you have a franchise player or not, each team is trying to find a guy to become a star for the next decade or more. They want sustainability at the position, but Pittsburgh has struggled since Ben Roethlisberger hung up the cleats. There have been no concrete answers.

Without a star quarterback, your team will sit in the middle or sink to the bottom. Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen catapult their team to postseason success, no matter if their respective rosters are good. If you can land a lottery ticket and get the next franchise-level player, the Steelers would be Super Bowl contenders.

None of the prospects in the draft will save them in 2025.

Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss

Draft projection: Rounds 2-4

After some quality performances at the Senior Bowl, Jaxson Dart has become a fast riser. There should be a "buyers beware" label put on this quarterback. He was the best out of a position group that was poor overall. That is not saying much since the Senior Bowl witnessed one of its worst quarterback classes in recent memory.

When it comes down to it, Dart has all the tools, but he needs extra time to develop. He can run and zip the ball downfield. His decision-making and learning an NFL-style offense is where things could get tricky. His draft projection is everywhere, but he will probably land on day two of the event.

Dart is a quality developmental piece, but the Steelers shouldn't risk taking him higher than Round 3.

Shedeur Sanders, Colorado

Draft projection: Round 1

Here is where things could be interesting for the Steelers on night one of the draft.

If Shedeur Sanders slips to their top pick, would Pittsburgh be bold enough to select him? It seems unwise to pick a quarterback that high with as many question marks that follow Sanders around. You better believe Mike Tomlin will love his NFL bloodlines, but this prospect might be picky with where he lands.

Sanders doesn't have an elite arm, but he does have good accuracy. His ability to escape creates headaches, but it also provides elite plays. He must develop at the next level and learn to sit in the pocket when the opportunity presents itself. Sanders will likely go early in the draft, but if he slips, it would be hard to imagine the Steelers completely ignoring him.

Quinn Ewers, Texas

Draft projection: Rounds 4-6

No one is talking about Quinn Ewers going into the draft after this past season was a disappointment. He wasn't terrible, but he didn't elevate his play like most scouts would've liked. If he wants to raise his draft stock, then he will need to find ways of impressing people during the interview process. Trying to win people over at the NFL Combine will be hard for any quarterback.

Taking Ewers in the middle to late rounds of the upcoming draft would be a wise choice. He has a lot of raw talent and a quality toolset. His maneuverability is underrated, and he has a strong arm. He isn't going to be a starting option on day one, but he could be a developmental guy who turns into a starter for the Steelers.
