After their latest exit from the playoffs almost as quickly as it began, the Steelers will make more changes this offseason. They have many difficult decisions regarding their roster construction and how they fill out their coaching staff. There is no doubt about it, people in Pittsburgh are sick and tired of the same old fate that their favorite football team has faced over the past eight years.

Many have called for Mike Tomlin to be fired but that hope was dashed after reports claim he will return. He might overachieve in the sense that he takes a troublesome roster to a winning record, but he has never surmounted a Super Bowl contender since 2017.

People are tired of Tomlin's barely above-average standing, and he will have to fire other coaches as scapegoats.

Steelers strength and conditioning coach: Phil Matusz

He probably should've been fired once Russell Wilson hurt his calf at the start of training camp. Somehow he had the quarterbacks push a blocking sled, which makes little sense for their position. Phil Matusz just finished his first season as the Steelers strength and conditioning coach, and it went almost as bad as possible. The team lost steam at the end of the year which reflects poorly on Matusz.

Steelers offensive line coach: Pat Meyer

One of the coaches on the hot seat with the Steelers is Pat Meyer. He seems as good as gone as we head into the offseason. Pittsburgh's offensive line coach has been with the organization since 2022, and things haven't gone well. The lack of progression from Broderick Jones and Dan Moore Jr. reflects poorly on him. Meyer is not the only issue, but they need some sort of change.

Steelers tight end coach: Alfredo Roberts

Sometimes failure just brings up random coaches being let go after Tomlin reflects on his staff. Alfredo Roberts has done a decent job with the Steelers' tight ends, but none of them have gone to a top-tier level either. Roberts has been with the organization since 2021, and Tomlin might feel ready to move on. Roberts has done a decent job, but Pittsburgh might be looking for a fresh perspective.

Steelers secondary coach: Grady Brown

One of the youngest coaches on Tomlin's staff is Grady Brown. He just finished his third season as the Steelers secondary coach. While he hasn't been terrible in his job, Pittsburgh has seen their secondary regress this year. Brown might be safe for now as he is seen as a strong up-and-coming coach, but the fact that Joey Porter Jr. and Minkah Fitzpatrick started to fall is a concern.

Steelers defensive coordinator: Teryl Austin

If Meyer is on the hot seat, so is Teryl Austin. He has been the Steelers defensive coordinator since 2022, and they continue to disappoint. Yes, Tomlin has his fingerprints all over their defense, so firing Austin would provide little comfort to any solutions that might follow. With that being said, Austin has seen his defense start to unravel toward the end of the season, which made his playoff outings ugly.
