This would be huge!

The Pittsburgh Steelers could be in the mix to add a talented wide receiver to their offensive arsenal. According to FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz, the Steelers have "checked in" on Deebo Samuel's availability via trade.

Samuel, a former second round pick by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2019 draft, is on the trade block and teams are interested in swinging for the fences and adding him to their squad. The Steelers make sense as a potential landing spot for Samuel since the only decent wideout they currently have under contract for 2025 is George Pickens.

Samuel is a top-tier wide receiver when healthy but that has been a problem for him in recent years, unfortunately. He's never played an entire season and that's going to make trading for him a risk but with how rough the receiver position looks in Pittsburgh, Samuel is still a player very much worth trading for.

Steelers reportedly in the mix to trade for Deebo Samuel

The Steelers' biggest need this offseason is a quarterback and making a huge deal like this to bring in Samuel could show the potential quarterback options that the team is serious about getting better. Samuel would be a massive weapon for whichever quarterback does come to Pittsburgh to be QB1 in 2025.

Pittsburgh isn't the only team being linked to Samuel on the trade market though, and that's not going to be a surprise. The Commanders, Texans, and Broncos were also mentioned in Schultz's initial report.

More Steelers news:

Samuel is coming off one of his "weaker" seasons but he still put up decent numbers, tallying 51 catches for 670 yards and three touchdowns in 15 starts. He hasn't had a 1,000+ yard season since 2021 when he went for 1,405 and scored six touchdowns.

Be that as it may, having both Pickens and Samuel (assuming the Steelers' plan is to keep Pickens) on the offensive side of the ball would make things easier for whoever ends up quarterbacking Pittsburgh in 2025.

This trade wouldn't be cheap but it might very well be worth it.
