After a tough loss in Philadelphia, where Pittsburgh was outplayed and outcoached for all four quarters, the team is left with a sour taste and a pressing need to regroup quickly. With a short week ahead, the focus shifts to a crucial Saturday matchup against the Ravens, where a division title is on the line.
Sunday’s performance made it clear that this team wasn’t ready to compete with a top-tier contender like the Eagles, highlighting plenty of areas for improvement. However, even in a difficult loss, one player continues to shine and stand out as a bright spot for the Steelers.
Player of the game: OLB, TJ Watt
T.J. Watt continues to solidify his case as the frontrunner for the Defensive Player of the Year award, proving once again why he’s the cornerstone of the Steelers’ roster. In a game where much went awry, Watt did everything within his power to keep his team competitive. Facing off against one of the best right tackles in the NFL, he still managed to record two sacks and force a fumble. Unfortunately, that turnover only resulted in three points, but week after week, Watt is the catalyst for momentum-shifting plays—and he nearly delivered again against the Eagles.
Late in the fourth quarter, Watt suffered an ankle injury that caused concern, but post-game reports revealed he had only rolled it. Hopefully, he’s healthy enough to suit up for the critical matchup against the Ravens. A win against Baltimore would not only be a huge morale boost, but it would also clinch the division title for the Steelers. With a 1-10 record without Watt, he remains their best—and perhaps only—hope of securing that victory and locking up the AFC North.
